The People’s Majlis passed the estimated state budget for the year 2009, at its 33rd sitting of the third session held this morning.
At today’s sitting the amendments which were moved and seconded during the discussion stage of the report submitted by the 15 member ad-hoc committee mandated with the review of estimated budget were put to vote. Fourteen proposals which called for various changes were passed.
Finally, the estimated state budget for the year 2009 was put to vote and it was successfully passed by consensus, with the 3 amendments passed by the Majlis.
At the beginning of today’s sitting, the Minister of Housing Transport and Public Infrastructure Mr. Mohamed Aslam was asked parliamentary questions by North Thiladhunmathee Atoll Member Mr. Jaufar Easa Adam. The Minister provided answers to the questions and 6 other supplementary questions.
Today’s sitting, attended by 47 Members was chaired by the Speaker of the People’s Majlis Mr. Mohamed Shihab.
